Each optocoupler device houses a pair of light emitting diodes (LEDs) alongside integrated photodetectors with electrical insulation between the input and output. The speed of the devices is up to a hundred times that of a standard phototransistor coupler due to separate connections for the output transistor and photodiode bias collectors. This reduces the base-collector capacitance. Possible applications for these dual channel optocouplers include high speed logic ground insulation, line receivers, polarity sensing and replacing pulse transformers to save on space and weight.
