It uses thereby the PoE technology (power over Ethernet). The 16 Fast-Ethernet-ports can be used for each 10/100 MBit/s binding. Attention of ports can transfer additional current, based on the standard IEEE802.3af. Extended auto sensing algorithms give security that only 802.3af-terminals are supplied with current. If attached PoE equipment becomes suspended, the current supply is turned off automatically. PoE simplifies and optimizes the network installation, since attached terminals are no more dependent on an obvious current plug socket. This applies particularly to access points, monitoring cameras and similar equipment, since these can to be now always placed at the optimal location.
